2026 events schema - breaking changes ahead

Experiences Events are being unified across platforms into a single analytics schema, planned for October 2026.

This is a heads-up so you can review the change before it is finalized. Tell WSC Sports if something is missing, or something else needs to be considered.

When is it changing

What's changing

Web and mobile currently report the same player activity with different event names and values. That drift is going away. A single schema covers every analytics event, property, and value.

The unified schema is a breaking change for reports, dashboards, and app logic that keys off today's event names or values. The Events (legacy) tables aren't that schema: the payload shape is different, and those pages still describe what's shipping today until you upgrade.

Breaking changes

Nothing errors when the schema changes. Reports and app logic keep running on values that no longer arrive, so review them rather than waiting for a failure.

• Property values: all move to lowercase snake_case. Some names aren't a 1:1 recase. For example, Stories completed becomes story_completed.
• Removed events: playlist start and exit wrappers (moments_playlist_start, moments_playlist_exit), casting start and end, picture-in-picture enabled and disabled, cta_visible / cta_dismissed, and audio as a standalone event. Each one has a replacement: see Removed events in the migration guide.
• Removed with no replacement: forced play and pause (forced_playback_play, forced_playback_pause). search_suggestions_shown is removed. For suggestion click-through, count search_suggestions_clicked against search_opened.
• Renamed events: playback_play / playback_pause become user_initiated_playback_play / user_initiated_playback_pause. container_data_load becomes tab_data_load.

What to do now

1. Send this page to whoever owns your analytics dashboards, and to whoever owns the app code that listens to onEventTriggered.
